print with an overhead view of a speeding Bottle
Nosed Dolphin slicing the surface of the water with its dorsal fin. Mariners, past and present, have gazed
upon this spectacle while standing on the bow of their respective ships. This depiction seizes the elusive moment where dolphin, man and vessel are partnered in a swift and streamlined
ballet.
This dolphin art tropical print’s vantage point departs from “normal”
artistic dolphin art renderings in that this
is an unusual downward view. Furthermore, Shaw’s intention was to give the viewer a dramatic feeling of the dolphin’s beauty, sheer speed and power. He is further
inspired by the dolphin’s apparent willingness
to remain playful and vibrant throughout its entire life. Shaw believes that we all can draw inspiration from this creature.
The original is 30”x40” oil on canvas. It was digitally replicated in high definition. The image is then
sprayed onto fine art canvas and paper during the Giclee (pronounced, “gee-clay”) print process. This makes for a very remarkable print quality, which is hard to tell from
the original. These tropical prints are
available in the full-sized 30x40 signed, limited edition
Giclees on canvas as well as other smaller sizes.
